Weeks passed with no change until one morning we were greeted by Bailee miraculously standing on three legs! However, Bailee's troubles were not over. Bailee was diagnosed and treated for cystitis. Then she contracted a severe upper respiratory infection and while recovering, she developed pyometritis (a bacterial infection that affects the uterus of cats and can be fatal) and had to have an emergency ovariohysterectomy.
With all that behind her, Bailee gradually grew stronger and is now walking on all four legs. Bailee may soon leave us to find her forever home but her inspirational spirit of courage, devotion, perseverance and faith will remain with us always.
Bailee and her four tiny kittens were brought to Moore Humane Society after being abandoned in a shed by her owners. Bailee was unable to stand when she arrived at our shelter, so we immediately took her to a local veterinarian. What x-rays revealed was heartbreaking: Bailee had a bullet in her back and she was paralyzed. Bailee was completely committed to her kittens so we knew we had to do whatever was necessary to help her continue caring for her kittens.
